Joshua Nicholas Sullivan (b. 1985) studied fine arts at the Rhode Island School of Design earning his BFA in 2007. Building on spiritual experiences as a painter, musician and conceptual artist, in 2013 he began discerning a call to ordained ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In 2016 he received his Masters of Divinity (MDiv) from the Yale School of Divinity and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. In 2017 he completed an internship year serving as the vicar at Ballard First Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA and organizer for the Faith Action Network of Washington. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Sacred Theology (STM) at the United Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia. Sullivan is also known for his music and performance works under the name PERFVGIVM, and the label he curates called Rustle VV. He lives in Philly with his wife Madelyn and their two cats Homer and Peter.
